The power of a core group
Recently a PowerUp shared about the people that made them feel most welcome in the community when they moved there. They highlighted the ways in which a “local” took the time to pass along valuable institutional information about the community. Another person who made them feel welcomed was someone who had been in the community for about 15 years but was a transplant. The camaraderie around being the new person to town helped that person feel seen and connected. Whether you’re the new person in town, the longtime resident, or the transplant, look for ways to connect to someone new. It’s inspiring how one person has the ability to change someone’s view on a community by being available, supportive, and welcoming.
